Law Enforcement Training Association (LETA) Membership

The Law Enforcement Training Association (LETA) membership fee is an annual non-refundable $85 fee. Being a member of the LETA is a requirement to participate in the Police Judo Training programs listed below.

Tactical Training Centre – 2010 Glen Drive, Vancouver
VPD Night Police Judo
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays from 7:30PM to 9:30PM
Lead Instructor: Brian Shipper

Evening Police Judo practices at the Tactical Training Centre (TTC) are run by head instructor Brian Shipper. Students interested in VPD Judo will require a reference from a sworn police officer and a criminal record check. Registration is for 3-months per semester. Classes run every Monday and Wednesday and every second Friday. Please reference the calendar for all classes. You must also purchase your annual LETA membership in conjunction with the registration fees.

Adults Intro to Police Judo

Never Done Judo? No Experience Necessary! Learn the fundamentals of break falls, judo and Police Judo techniques including basic throws and groundwork training with Instructor Launa Hinton at OSP (5487 Lane St. Burnaby).
Students of the “Intro To Police Judo” class are NOT required to purchase “The Law Enforcement Training Association” (LETA) membership fee. However, should the students decide to continue with classes at OSP after the Intro program is over, they will be required to purchase the LETA fee. The LETA membership is an annual non-refundable fee. Being a member of the LETA is a requirement to participate in other Police Judo Training programs. Please ensure your annual LETA fees are paid before attending other classes outside of the Intro program.

OSP Police Judo
Tuesdays from 7:00PM to 8:30PM
Thursdays from 5:00PM to 7:00PM

Tuesday night open judo practice is a recreational judo practice for all Police Judo students who want to develop their judo skills and throws while Thursdays will focus primarily on judo groundwork as well as linkage from throws to judo groundwork.

OSP Tactical Police Judo

Saturdays from 10:00AM to 11:30AM
Lead Instructor: Ret. Sgt. Mark Steinkampf

Great for fitness, self defense and those interested in, or currently working in law enforcement. This Police Judo Training Program focuses on the tactical aspects of Police Judo training combining low-risk high-yield judo techniques with control and arrest tactics and is taught by Ret. Sgt. Mark Steinkampf. For individuals with no previous judo or police judo training it is recommended to take the Intro Course – this will be offered 3 times a year.

Technical Police Judo
Fridays from 7:00PM to 8:30PM
Lead Instructor: Keith Durrant

Join Instructor Keith Durrant with over 35 years of judo training and experience from Japan for a judo practice focusing on the biomechanics of technique as well as Kata fundamentals. This program is recommended for students who have a basic foundation in breakfalls and judo or the Intro to Police Judo training.
