The Law Enforcement Training Association (LETA) membership fee is an annual non-refundable fee. Being a member of the LETA is a requirement to participate in the Police Judo Training programs listed below.


VPD Police Judo Registration

For those wanting to train at VPD Police Judo, the registration is by a 3-month semester system and requires a reference from a sworn officer and a Criminal Record check.

Evening Police Judo practices at the Tactical Training Centre (TTC) at 2010 Glen Dr. Vancouver, BC with the head instructor Brian Shipper. Students interested in VPD Judo will require a reference from a sworn police officer and a criminal record check.

OSP Police Judo Registration Options

Intro Classes: If you are just starting out and want to develop basic skills our 10-week introductory class is the program for you!

Never Done Judo? No Experience Necessary! Learn the fundamentals of break falls, judo and Police Judo techniques including basic throws and groundwork training with Instructor Aidan Keyes at OSP (5487 Lane St. Burnaby).

Students of the "Intro To Police Judo" class are NOT required to purchase "The Law Enforcement Training Association" (LETA) membership fee. However, should the students decide to continue with classes at OSP after the Intro program is over, they will be required to purchase the LETA fee. The LETA membership is an annual non-refundable fee. Being a member of the LETA is a requirement to participate in other Police Judo Training programs. Please ensure your annual LETA fees are paid before attending other classes outside of the Intro program.

OSP Police Judo Training Schedule

The Burnaby Odd Squad Police Judo programs are structured to accommodate your busy schedule! If you would like the flexibility to train in different programs, we offer unlimited training with a monthly membership: you choose your classes!

If you would like the flexibility of a drop-in pass, Odd Squad Police Judo offers a 10-pass option (no expiry date) for your convenience.


This monthly membership option provides UNLIMITED access to Police Judo classes at the OSP (5487 Lane St., Burnaby) location. This membership will renew AUTOMATICALLY on the first day of each month using the payment method saved in the account. If you are registering later in the month, the cost for the remaining days of the month will be automatically prorated. You will be paying the full amount at the renewal date for the following month. If you need to put your membership on HOLD or CHANGE the membership option, talk to an instructor or send an email to info@policejudo.ca or adelcheng@hotmail.com.
An active LETA membership (annually paid) is required to train with Police Judo.


This membership option provides access to any class at OSP (5487 Lane St., Burnaby) location 10 TIMES.

Tuesday night open judo practice is a recreational judo practice for all Police Judo students who want to develop their judo skills in both standing and groundwork techniques. Tuesdays will be led by Instructor Toby Hinton.

Great for fitness, self defense and those interested in, or currently working in law enforcement. This Police Judo Training Program focuses on the tactical aspects of Police Judo training combining low-risk high-yield judo techniques with control and arrest tactics and is taught by Ret. Sgt. Mark Steinkampf. For individuals with no previous judo or police judo training it is recommended to take the Intro Course - this will be offered 3 times a year.
Police Judo Joint Locking and Handcuffing Thu at 19:00-20:30

Learn the fundamentals of joint-locking techniques for law enforcement as well as the "H-CUFF®" method of handcuffing by Police Judo veteran Ret. Cst. Al Arsenault (author of "Joint-Locking Techniques for Law Enforcement"). This 10-week session is open to all monthly membership holders as well as available through the 10 Pass system.

Join Instructor Keith Durrant with over 35 years of judo training and experience from Japan for a judo practice focusing on the biomechanics of technique as well as Kata fundamentals. This program is recommended for students who have a basic foundation in breakfalls and judo or the Intro to Police Judo training.
OSP Women Only Judo – Yuki Yokosawa Sun at 13:30-15:00 •monthly

Female only classes with instructor Yuki Yokosawa (Japan’s former Olympic silver medalist). This Police Judo program is structured for females to learn judo and Police Judo techniques. There is no experience necessary and this program is for students aged 13 years and up who are interested in fitness, self-defence and judo skill development in a fun, positive learning environment.
